Bible Passage:  Ecclesiastes 4

If you are reading this now, you will know that this Bible Blog has not been updated as regularly as it should have been.

The fault lies with me and me alone.

This passage reminded me of the importance of having like-minded brethren as part of this church work.

Two are better than one,
Because they have a good reward for their labor.
10 For if they fall, one will lift up his companion.
But woe to him who is alone when he falls,
For he has no one to help him up.
11 Again, if two lie down together, they will keep warm;
But how can one be warm alone?
12 Though one may be overpowered by another, two can withstand him.
And a threefold cord is not quickly broken.

~ Ecclesiastes 4:9-12

Now I know we have heard teachings concerning this many times but sometimes it is necessary to be reminded once again.

When we started this Bible reading blog some 5 plus years ago, there was only one writer.  But this number gradually grew and thanks to the support and willingness of partners, this blog has continued till today.

Yes, there are some writers who have stopped writing.  There are some who have dropped off and returned.  Some writers … ok… most of us have hit a block at one time or another.  But the spirit of working together has indeed helped to sustain the work.

For some reason, there are some people who believe that they do not need the help of other people.

They do not need brethren to be around.  They do not need friends or companions.  They think they can do it all.

Why do they behave this way?

Perhaps their friends have failed them before.  Perhaps they just do not know how to ask for help.

Solomon is indeed a very wise king.  He knew the importance of friends. Good friends.

We need good friends to pick us up when we fall.  We need good friends to warm us up when we are cold.  We need good friends to protect us when attacked.  We need good friends to give us strength when we are weak.

We need friends.  Not just ordinary friends but spiritual friends.  Good spiritual friends.

And not just 2 friends.  “And a threefold cord is not quickly broken…”

There is strength in numbers.  Especially when they are your good friends.

And all the more when you have the best friend as your friend…. our Lord Jesus.

I know that some of us writers are tired.  I know I am.

I know some of us are weary … so am I.

All the more I need good spiritual friends now.  Friends to strengthen me.  Friends to inspire me.  Friends to walk the road with me.

Will you be that friend?

Will I be that friend?

For when we pick each other up, walk together, fight together… we will have a good reward for our labor.

Today am pleasantly surprised to find quite a few new blogs up. Yes i agree very much that spiritual companions, spiritual co-workers are very important. It is very hard to sustain a good work when doing it alone. there is definitely great strength in numbers!
