Exodus 19-21

Bible Passage: Exodus 19 – 21

Now therefore, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be a special treasure to Me above all people; for all the earth is Mine.
And you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words which you shall speak to the children of Israel.”

Exodus 19: 5 – 6

These wonderful words came from the mouth of the Almighty God, which was to be relayed to the people of Israel through the man of God, Moses.

Does these words spoken to the Israelites have any meaning or significance to Christians of today?

Yes of course. Why? Because God sees us, Christians of today, as His special treasure, a kingdom of priests, and a holy nation too.

This assurance was relayed to us by another man of God, the Apostle Peter.

But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.

1 Peter 2: 9

The Israelites could enjoy this status under one condition, and that was to obey the voice of God and to keep His covenant. Today, through the precious blood of our Lord Jesus Christ, we can also enjoy this status. For through baptism, we have all become the heirs of Abraham.

For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.

Galatians 3: 27 – 29

But while we enjoy this status, we must not forget that we must also obey and keep the word of God, less we be enticed by the temptations of the devil and leave the bosom of our Savior.

For we truly have a true God who is faithful, loving and righteous. His commandments/instructions/words are always for the benefit of man, they are not meant to bind us down.

And the Lord commanded us to observe all these statutes, to fear the Lord our God, for our good always, that He might preserve us alive, as it is this day.

Deuteronomy 6: 24

In chapter 19, God told Moses that He would come down upon Mount Sinai in the sight of all the people, so that the people would know that God had indeed chosen Moses as their leader.

This appearing of God upon Mount Sinai was in fact a national revelation, because all the people of Israel witnessed the Almighty and Living God came down and spoke with them.

This is important to our faith in God, because Moses did not declare to the people that he was chosen by God without any evidence. God came to provide this indisputable prove that Moses was truly chosen by God.

If we look at other religious founders who claimed to have encounter with God and receiving revelations from Him to relay to the people, there are no solid evidence of such encounters with accompanying witnesses.

When our Lord Jesus walked the earth, He went around preaching and performing many breathtaking miracles in the sight of the multitude. Even during the apostolic times, the apostles also went around preaching and did many miracles that were seen by many.

So let us stand firm in our faith, for we are worshipping a God who is True, Almighty, Loving and Righteous.

Let us respond to His wonderful attributes with a sincere heart of gratitude, humility and love.

May we always give thanks and praise to our True God in Heaven.

Shalom.

God is true, almighty, loving and righteous.
And us humans are most times, none of the above.

So let us not take for granted of this true, almighty, loving and righteous God, because to have someone so full of goodness and perfection watch over us is indeed a blessing. God has the power to take everything away from us because He has provided us with everything and more.

So if for any one moment, we falter and run out of thanks to give/ offer, remember that God is still watching over us. And we should never give Him good reason not to.
