Bible Passage:  Micah 4

Micah 4 talks about two prophesies. One is about the future spiritual Mt. Zion and other about the Jews being captured by the Babylonians; both being future events relative to Micah’s era. I would not consider the second prophesy since it has already passed in history. It is interesting to note that the first section v1 to v5 talks about Gentiles turning to the God of Israel and is also written in Revelation 21.

Although in the past Gentiles are allowed to worship God, it was not prevalent.

Even in modern Judaism, being based on the Pharisees, there are very few gentile adherents to Judaism. Therefore, this prophesy should refer to Mt. Zion as the True Church.

“And he carried me away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me the great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God, having the glory of God. Her light was like a most precious stone, like a jasper stone, clear as crystal.”

(Rev 21:10-11)

The True Church is founded on Jesus Christ, who is also the Word, the Law. God being merciful, not only has mercy on the chosen race Israel, but He has mercy on the whole world. Thus salvation is open to everyone to this world who truly have faith in Jesus and are true adherents to the Word of God.

Unfortunately, the chosen people as written in the Bible are the branches that are broken off from the olive tree for they have rejected the Master; having no faith in their Messiah Jesus Christ; which is no surprise as those who practise Judaism are practicing the faith of the Pharisees who rejected Jesus Christ and crucified Him. The gentiles on the other hand are given the opportunity for salvation if they turn to Jesus.

“The Pharisaic school of thought is the only one that survived the destruction of the Temple. The Zealots were killed off during the war with Rome. The Sadducees could not survive without the Temple, which was the center of their religion.

The prophesy describes many people of different nationality coming to worship the Lord at the True Church. They desire to keep the Word of the Lord and walk in His righteous ways. We know that Jesus, our God and Saviour has led us the example of the righteous and peaceable path.

Many true believers, shall pursue to walk on this path for they know that judgment awaits them if they do not.

“But I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. The city had no need of the sun or of the moon to shine in it for the glory of God illuminated it. The Lamb is its light. And the nations of those who are saved shall walk in its light, and the kings of the earth bring their glory and honor into it.”

 (Rev 21:22-24)

As members and ambassadors of this exalted Mountain of the Lord, have we pursued the knowledge of His Words and walked on the righteous path? Let us be as what Jesus say the light of the world. To be the light on the top of this mountain that draws the true believers to Him.

The spiritual meeting and evangelistic services are over. Let us continue in this fervor for the Lord in spiritually improving ourselves and preaching the Gospel of Peace. Let us continue to burn this light and bring glory to our Lord Jesus.

The fear I harbour is not being able to stay grounded in the church even though I have little or almost no doubt at all that I will be tempted or made to be led astray.

And sometimes I wonder when I waver in my faith or in the work I have promised myself to do for God, if I will be able to have the strength and will to carry on with whatever I’ve started because sometimes there really seems to be only two possible outcomes.

But I guess the one thing that makes me realise that I shouldn’t lose hope and should continue keeping faith, is the life I still have.

I am still able to wake up every other day and still have life left in me to do what I should to make the numbers of my life count.
And I know I haven’t done enough at all.

What’s the use of giving up if there is still more life left to save?
