Either Naaman was very desperate that he and his wife were ready to take up the advice of a maid servant or the name of the God of Israel and His power was known even by the people of Syria.

When Naaman came to Samaria for healing, he did not doubt the power of the LORD.

When Naaman stood at the door of Elisha, he doubted Elisha, the prophet of the LORD. The king of Israel received Naaman (2 King 5:6). But Elisha did not receive him personally when he came to Elisha’s door (2 Kings 5:9-10).

After Naaman was healed, he requested for 2 mule-load of earth. He declared, “…for your servant will no longer offer either burnt offering or sacrifices to other gods, but to the LORD.”

Why did Naaman want the earth? May be to make into god-figurine to offer his burnt offering and sacrifices?

It was good to receive healing.

It was good that Naaman accepted the LORD as his god.

However did Naaman also receive the grace of salvation too?

When Naaman made the request of pardon in 2 Kings 5:18, Elisha did not address his request. Elisha simply told him to depart in peace for he had accomplished the purpose of coming to the prophet of the LORD ie healing of his leprosy.

Yes, healing of sickness to the sick person and his family members is good and important. More important, the salvation of the soul is secured too.

And truly Jesus did many other signs in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book; but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name. (John 20:30-31)

Salvation for eternal life is the only healing that really matters.

Like in Hymn 136, we know clearly the God whom we worship.
