2 Samuel Chapter 24

2 Sam 24

V14 – And David said to Gad, “I am in great distress. Please let us fall into the hand of the LORD, for His mercies are great; but do not let me fall into the hand of man.”

David knew in his heart that he had sinned against the Lord and when Gad came to pronounce his punishment to him. He truly deserved to be punished for he was actually advised against doing it yet he went ahead.

Though that maybe the case, David understood that the Lord is merciful, not to plead the Lord not to punish him but rather to have mercy when He is punished.

David’s understanding of God is truly of a different plane than many of us.

In similar situation, many of us would plead for the Lord not to punish us if the Lord truly is merciful.

We forgotten that the Lord is indeed merciful, He is also righteous.

So let us learn from David, the Lord is both righteous and merciful and we should be humble before Him.
