Everlasting Deliverance and Judgment – Isaiah 58-62

Isaiah 58-62

Bible Passage:  Isaiah 58-62

Do the words in the beginning of chapter 61 sound familiar?

These were the words that Jesus used when He went to the temples to declare His ministry…

“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me,
Because the Lord has anointed Me
To preach good tidings to the poor;
He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty to the captives,
And the opening of the prison to those who are bound;
To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord,
And the day of vengeance of our God;

~ Isaiah 61:1-2

Today’s sharing shall be brief.

For a country God seems central in their lives, America  seems to be ambivalent about how they regard Christianity.  Spending the last few days in the capital city of US, one gets that mixed feeling and its really quite sad.   And this is also increasing true around the world.

As I read the words of Isaiah, it also caused me to pause and think…

Jesus was very clear about His purpose in this world:

He knew He was anointed….

He knew He was sent….

He knew He was to preach good tidings to the poor….

He knew He was to heal the broken hearted….

He knew He was to proclaim liberty to the captives… and open the prison to those who are bound…

He knew He was to shout out the acceptable year of the Lord and the day of vengeance of the Lord…

We are also called today.  We are also anointed today.  We are also sent today.

The problem is … many a times, we forget that.

We must be reminded of this everyday.
