Exodus 35

Bible Passage:  Exodus 35

Now!
The Lord commanded the children of Israel:
To do this, to offer that and to make the Tabernacle.

He commands to keep (Exodus 35: 1-3)

God commanded them to keep this day-a day of Sabbath rest.
It was meant to let man rest; rest from work and rest from emotional ties.
It is a day for us to remember that God is the creator, He is our redeemer,
and He sanctified us-a holy day, a day to look forward to eternal rest.

When a Friday night service comes we should have already begun,
to observe Sabbath from sun set to the sun set of a Saturday evening.
Remember to put aside our worldly affairs.
Attend services. Do good deeds. Keep His commands.

Again and again, just as parents do this too,
God, our Father wants to repeatedly remind us that this is a holy day.
Not to be taken for granted for our obedience draws us closer to Him,
Because He prepares us for greater works in seasons due.

He calls for offerings (Exodus 35:4-9)

God was preparing way to build the tabernacle you see,
for He wanted the children of Israel to offer from a willing heart.
He chooses to work through us for God loves a cheerful giver.
Yet the following offerings mean something more to you and me.

There were fourteen kinds of materials offered to be used.
Each material used to construct the tabernacle represented something.
It described the nature of Jesus: a king, a servant, the son of man and the son of God.
We should strive to more like Jesus and offer more to the Lord.

He commands to make (Exodus 35:10-19)

Those gifted artisans were called to make the tabernacle, its tent and all.
There were the curtains, the ark, the veil, the table of shewbread, and the lamp stand.
Then there was the screen to the door of entrance, and the altar of incense and bronze altar.
And there were also the laver, the hangings of the court, and the gate.

Eleven significant objects in the tabernacle, likewise we are like this tabernacle of God.
Acknowledge Jesus as the door, pursue holiness within, and carry the cross.
The main teaching to take is Jesus died to fulfil God’s salvation plan to save us.
Thus we must remember His grace. Become a temple and a vessel useful to serve.

Present the offerings (Exodus 35:20-29)

Everyone came, as many as had a willing heart made an offering to the Lord.
Only a heart stirred, with a willing spirit brings a freewill offering before the Lord.
They did not know what to give, when to give or how to give until Moses led them.
We should offer in timeliness with a correct attitude and a willing heart too.

Answer His call (Exodus 35:30-35)

He filled the people with the spirit of God, in wisdom and understanding in knowledge.
In all manner of workmanship, there were those who were especially inspired to work.
He has put in their heart the ability to teach, or design, or make.
Therefore God will pour down His Holy Spirit if we are chosen to work with Him.

Now.
When God puts a desire in our heart,
Now is the time to respond in our part.

Today’s posting by appleofHiseye certainly complements yesterday’s posting very well.

With Grace and Mercy from God received, what should our response be? The answers are clear from the posting. If you have taken time to reflect and meditate upon it – I believe that like me, there will be a stirring in our hearts…

The Mid Year Spiritual Meeting is just a few days away. It is a public holiday on the 1st day of the Spiritual Meeting. Let’s use this opportunity to come for a Spiritual Feast – to refresh our souls, our commitment and light up our desires for the Lord once again.

We need to respond positively to the Grace and Mercy of God. And do not allow our zeal and desire to just slip away.

Ex 35:2 “Work shall be done for six days, but the seventh day shall be a holy day for you, a Sabbath of rest to the LORD. Whoever does any work on it shall be put to death.”

A Sabbath of rest to the LORD.

Ex 34:21 “Six days you shall work, but on the seventh day you shall rest; in plowing time and in harvest you shall rest.”

Yes, God loves a cheerful giver (Ex 35:5, 21, 29)

One important offering to give to God is our time. God asks only of a day, a Sabbath of rest to Him.

In plowing time and in harvest; in downs and ups of life; give a Sabbath’s time to God with a cheerful heart.

Rest to refresh our body, spirit and soul. Keep still and remember that Lord Jesus is God.

Eternal rest is waiting. Lord Jesus is waiting.
