Hymn 390 – Just A Closer Walk With Thee

The goal of our life is to draw closer to God so that one day, we will be with Him forever in His everlasting kingdom.

But despite our best intentions, we often fall short of what we want to do.  Paul’s lament about not being able to do the things he wants to do and yet does the very things he does not want to do sound very familiar in our lives.  We just long to be able to walk the paths of righteouesness and not be caught up in this world of sin and its lies.

Hymn 530 – Just A Close Walk With Thee struck a very close chord with me as I was thinking about setting up this Bible Reading Campaign.

We know we should read the Bible daily and as often as possible, but we often do not do so.  We know that God’s Words are like Manna for our souls, but we leave it hungry… malnourished.

Just a closer walk with thee,

Grant it, Jesus, is my plea.

Daily walking close to thee,

Let it be, dear Lord, let it be!

The chorus of this hymn should be in our prayer each day as we walk through the Bible together.

“Lord, I want to be closer to you. ”

“Grant me the power and grace to be able to walk daily with you”

“Let it be, dear Lord, Let it Be”
