Law – Genesis 8 – 11

Better late than never, here is the Bible Reading Passage for today:

Bible Passage:  Genesis 8 – 11

Today’s passage talks about after the flood and how God blessed Noah and his family.  We see the wonderful covenant that God makes with man (we can still see this sign today).  But it all ends badly in chapter 11 when the people that came after Noah decided that they wanted to make a name for themselves.

Some Things to Think About:

Genesis 8:1 – “God remembered Noah, and every living thing.”

God remembered Noah.  God always “remembers” His people.

Sometimes we think God has forgotten – because a long time has past and still we do not see His grace or blessing.

Noah’s life is an example of pure patience.

He waited for a long time after God told him that the floods will come before the floods actually came.

He was in the ark for 150 days before God remembered Noah and the waters subsided.

“How long must we wait?” – we wonder when faced with unanswered prayers.

“Why must we wait?”

Because God remembers us and will surely act when the time is right.

Genesis 11 – The Tower of Babel Incident

Sometimes when you read about Noah and then the incident of the Tower of Babel, you wonder…

How is it that man…

  • despite being wiped out from the existence of the earth and only Noah and his family remained
  • despite having a ‘clean’ start to begin their relationship with God once again
  • despite having a great sign testifying of the covenant that God has made with man that He will never destroy the earth with water again

somehow slips back into sin again and incur the great anger of God.

But when we think of our lives today, aren’t we sometimes like that as well?

We sinned and received God’s forgiveness and/or salvation.  And yet, when time passes, we forget God and slip back into our old ways.

Consider this:  We may forget but God remembers.
