Mark Chapter 16

This chapter highlighted some timely reminders that we should seriously take note of.

Have we missed out on opportunities to serve the Lord, just like how Mary Madalene, Mary the mother of James and Salome could not anoint the body of Jesus since He has already resurrected.

Let us be wise to seize every opportunity that we are given to render service to the Lord and not give any excuses like ‘we are busy’, ‘perhaps next time’, etc.  As James reminded us in James 4:13 – 15, we are not in control of tomorrow.  In fact, we are not even in control of what will happen in the next hour, minutes or even seconds.  If the Lord wills and graciously offered us His grace, let us not hesitate but to ‘live and do this or that’.

Are there also times when we did not believe, even though God has clearly shown us the way.  Just as Jesus rebuked the disciples for their unbelief and hardness of heart, will we likewise be chastised by our Lord for our similar follies and foolhardiness.

In what way, will we fall short of God’s expectations and incur His displeasure.  Heb 3:7 – 13 warned us of the deceitfulness of sins.  In our daily walk in life, do we constantly seek to hear the voice of the Lord, do we heed and submit to His Spirit, have we abided in His word as we chart through the many trials and temptations that pummel us and seek to bring us into subjection.

And finally, have we responded to the call of our Lord to “go into the world and preach the gospel to every creature”.  Sadly we often hung our heads in shame for we know that there is much that needs to be done.  As the author of Hebrews reminded us (Heb 10:23-25).  Let us continually encourage and stir up one another.  The spirit of One Body is to be knitted, to work together, to supply what we are able so that there is growth of the body and edification in love.

May the Lord have mercy and help us.
