Matthew

Matthew Chapter 19

The Pharisees were trying to trick Lord Jesus (19:3), but in His answer, Lord Jesus placed emphasis on marriage instead of focusing His teaching on the subject of divorce.

He also pointed out that God intended marriage is permanent. They are male and female made by God since beginning (Heterosexual and monogamy). They are no longer two but one, and what God has joined together, no one should separate it because marriage is a divine institution.

Nevertheless, sinful human nature made divorce inevitable and Moses instituted some law to help its victims. Instead of looking for reasons to leave each other, husband and wife should focus on how to stay together in the Lord.

Have you ever been challenged or tricked by others on the faith that you believe in?

As members of the True church, we must always have a clear understanding of the Truth that we have received. Only then will we be able to remain steadfast in the Truth, defend it and lead others onto the True path of salvation.

On the other hand, do we ever try to find “loopholes” in God’s Word so as to justify our disobedience?

Paul taught the believers in Corinth, all things are lawful, but not all things are helpful. All things are lawful, but not all things are edifying (1 Cor 6:12, 23).

We might have the rights to do many things but not all are profitable or edifying. Most importantly, we should not be brought under the power of bondage of anything.

We should learn to actively do God’s Will rather than find excuses for our reluctance.

So let us continue learning the Words of God together. Be sober and vigilant because the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour (I Peter 5:8)
