Prophecy – Isaiah 45 – 50
Do you remember the question the Psalmist asked when we were reading Psalm 24 on Sunday?
“Who is the King of Glory?” (Ps 24:8)
My challenge to you today is when you read the Bible Passage (I know I know, it is a very long passage – it’s Isaiah!), find the answers given by the prophet.
Bible Passage: Isaiah 45 – 50
Let me share with you what I found in Chapter 45 – and then maybe you work on the rest.
Isaiah 45:18-20
Who? Who? Who?
This question is asked repeatedly.
God says “I am the LORD, there is no other.” (Isaiah 45:18)
Who is God?
- He formed the earth and made it
- He established it
- He inhabited it.
The read in Isaiah 45:21-22…
Here we see God declaring Himself who He is and what He has done.
God declares openly that judgement and redemption will come to the people and only He alone is able to carry out all these purposes. No other so called gods, nor earthly superpowers, nor human can match His sovereignity, authority and power. This passage alone shows that:
- God alone can say what will happen in the future
- God alone is God
- God is just
- God is the Saviour
- There is no other god besides God
- God is ready to save all those who look to Him
- God is God
If we read further on in Isaiah 45, we see that:
- God rules over great and powerful kings like Cyrus
- God is the source of all righteouesness
- God is the Holy One of Israel
- God is the Saviour of Israel
- God is against all false gods and idols in people’s lives
- God is the Creator of the universe
- God is the Lord to whom every knee shall bow
Whew! Just reading this one chapter and coming up with this list shows us how awesome our God is!
And all this from just one Chapter.
So if you work at it, the next time someone asks you “Who is God?”, I am sure you will have such a long list of things to say that you will never run of great things to say about God.

Fro 45 to 50 God reiterates that He created all things and beside Him there is no other God.
This is the God whom i worship. This is the God who called me from the womb.
God says that He leads me by the way i should go. God says that i heed His commandments my peace will be like a river. God says i shall not be ashamed who wait for Him.
