Psalm 28-29

Psalm 28-29

Bible Passage:  Psalm 28-29

The more I read the words of the psalmist David, the more I wonder… how can one who experience so much pain in his life still exalts and praise God like there is no tomorrow…

“Blessed be the Lord,
Because He has heard the voice of my supplications!
The Lord is my strength and my shield;
My heart trusted in Him, and I am helped;
Therefore my heart greatly rejoices,
And with my song I will praise Him.”

~ Psalm 28: 6-7

What’s his secret?

For me… the moment things go slightly askew, there goes my praise.  Instead of songs it is only sighs.   The smile of joy downturns to a frown.  The spring in my step is now a dead weight.

Why was David so different?

Reading today’s passage, especially in Psalm 28 gave me perhaps a glimpse of why is it that David could always find it in him to bless and praise our God.

Let’s start from the beginning of Psalm 28.  It is very interesting to me that he starts off by asking God for mercy (Psalm 28:1-5).

The he abruptly changes his song by sprouting joyful words of praise in the confidence that his prayers for mercy have been heard.

Did you get that?

David really believed that his prayers were heard and that God had already helped him.  And he was so confident that of this that he started to praise, bless and thank God!

This reminds me that when I pray, I need to pray with confidence.

Elder James said in James 5:15….

And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up…

I need to have more faith in my prayers that in praying for the things that God wants me to pray for, I must believe that the Lord can accomplish the things that I’m praying for.

A bit of a mouthful I know… but just consider… there are so many brethren that need our prayers right now… I think you can name a few without even thinking because their names have been announced so often.

I know you have prayed for them.  How strong is your faith that God will hear and do according to His will?

What do you think?

    I think you just brought up what is usually overlooked!

    Also, in verse two, it states ‘beauty in holiness’. People are always talking about inner beauty and reading this, I realize that this concept of inner beauty stem from holiness, because no amount of external decoration can make one who is morally corrupt attractive.
