Psalm 97

Psalm_97

Bible Passage: Psalms 97

After reading this Psalm, there is only one word that comes to my mind, “AWESOME!”

Our God is indeed an awesome God, and He reigns!

How blessed are we who are being called by His love into His wonderful Kingdom.

And truly, if God be for us, who can be against us?

We live in a world of sin; righteousness and justice is scarce in the world, but that doesn’t shake the foundation of God which is founded on righteousness.

People of the world are drunk with their own desires, and they refuse to be taught the righteous standards of the Creator and Lord of the universe.

Instead they made idols for themselves to worship, in the hope to reap wealth and worldly materials from these dumb idols who are not gods at all.

The heavens declare His righteousness,
And all the peoples see His glory.

V.6

When the heavens declare His righteousness, no one on earth can deny or give excuses of not knowing them.

For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen,
being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead,
so that they are without excuse,
because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor
were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened.

Romans 1: 20 – 21

God may permit evil to go on for a period (cf. Rev. 22:11), but we know soon He would come as a consuming fire to set things right.

Let all be put to shame who serve carved images,
Who boast of idols.
Worship Him, all you gods.

V.6 – 7

So for us who are known by God, let not this noble status be taken away from us by our own negligence or by the wicked one; but stand firm in the righteousness of God, be unspotted by the world, then we shall be rewarded when He brings us into His Heavenly Kingdom.

You who love the Lord, hate evil!
He preserves the souls of His saints;
He delivers them out of the hand of the wicked.
Light is sown for the righteous,
And gladness for the upright in heart.

V 10 – 11

Let us continue to praise and thank the Lord for His love and mercy towards us. And may He always strengthen us to walk closely by His side.

Always remember that our God is indeed an Awesome God; so we must let our Lord reign in our hearts!

Shalom
