2011 - Through The New Testament,  Reflections

Reflection: 9 to 14 Jan 2011

You Are The Christ!

We have just completed 2 weeks of 5 minutes a day Bible Reading!

The 5 minutes a day thing seems to work!  Everytime I was tempted to skip a reading, I remembered that it is only 5 minutes a day and out comes my iphone and I start reading (well… what do you think my iphone is for?  It is first and foremost my Bible ….  at least that is my excuse (: )

How has been your Bible Reading…. Jai You!

Please share your reflections here over the weekend…

For me…  this verse nicely captures my feelings after this 2 weeks of bible reading….

He said to them,

“But who do you say that I am?”

Peter answered and said to Him,

“You are the Christ.”

Mark 8:29

Reading all the things so far about Jesus… His teachings, His miracles, His parables, His compassion, His rebukes etc…

I am SO happy that we are doing this New Testament Journey this year…

This has allowed me to reaquaint myself with Jesus.  I have spent more time reflecting and praying about what I read.  And if anyone asked me now… like Peter… I am even more convinced that Jesus is indeed the Christ!  My Saviour!  My Messiah.  My God.

Thank you Jesus for coming to this world for me.

i m very thankful that the bible is now widely available and i can read a passage repeatedly and in different versions bec i m slow to understand.

In Mark 6 to 10, it was recorded several times that the disciples did not understand and sometimes they also didn’t dare to ask Lord Jesus. (Mark 6:52, 8:21, 9:32, 10:43)

It is also a great blessing that the Holy Spirit is here to guide us and brethren willingly share His truth on the bible blog.

Of course, there is much which i don’t understand as i m still drinking milk, like Mark 6:51-52, why did Mark record that “For they did not understand about the loaves, because their heart was hardened” after Lord Jesus boarded the boat and the wind ceased?

What has an understanding about the loaves to do with “they were greatly amazed in themselves beyond measure, and marveled.”?

Mark 9:37 and 10:15 give the comfort that it is ok as long as one tries and learns and relies in humility, he can enter the kingdom of heaven. Hallelujah 😀

Reading 5 min daily brings attention to details which are omitted previously. Mark wrote precisely, concisely and beautifully.

Eg Mark 6:38 But He said to them, “How many loaves do you have? Go and see.” And when they found out they said, “Five and two fishes.”

Lord Jesus asked about loaves. The disciples answered prescisely “5” and added the other food which they found although Lord Jesus did not ask. Do i go the extra mile as they did?

The disciples did not have any food themselves. They did not know whether anyone would offer. Lord Jesus told them to “go and see”. They went, They asked. They found out. They reported. The disciples were totally submissive to the Lord. m i as instructable/teachable?

Mark 8:12 But He sighed deeply in His spirit, and said…

Ponder: Who is Lord Jesus sighing for?

    “i” in prayer, isn’t it? (Rom 8:26)

Attended KHF just now and noted that i m not familiar with accepted believes of TJC. Very enjoyable time. A good and timely reminder to learn more. In KHF, there is the comfort to voice my thoughts and established brethren will give valuable feedback to help me to learn correctly.

“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”
    (Mark 10:45)

I thought about this verse, how Jesus’ life was completely dedicated to service. And I find that I cannot compare at all. So to be able to do a small part here and keep up with the readings of a chapter a day, just some five minutes worth of reading then a short sharing or a quick comment. I hope I can continue to serve Him by writing with Him and for Him. There are still many other works which I hope to serve the Lord in if He wills. And it’s an encouragement to be able to know that there are others who are accompanying us on this journey of faith to draw closer to God day by day.
