Proverbs 24

Proverbs 24
Wisdom is truly the most needed thing in our lives, for without it, we may find life a dread to carry on.
That is why our loving God wants to pass down these teachings of wisdom in the Bible for all of us to learn and to do them, so that we can lead a meaningful life in Him, and a hope in the future.
Let me share a few verses that strike me most from today’s chapter.

Bible Passage: Proverbs 24

Our Responsibility

Deliver those who are drawn toward death,
And hold back those stumbling to the slaughter.
If you say, “Surely we did not know this,”
Does not He who weighs the hearts consider it?
He who keeps your soul, does He not know it?
And will He not render to each man according to his deeds?
v. 11 – 12
True wisdom is from God, and since it is from God, there is always love.
The wise in the wisdom of God seeks to deliver people from injustice and the dangers in life; but if in his wisdom he purposefully refuses to hold back those heading towards their destruction, he will be accountable to God.
Likewise, if we do not try our best to do our part in snatching souls from the clutches of the devil (ref. Jude 23), will we not be accountable to God? For we all know very well that only those who believe and are baptized can be saved in the Lord (Mark 16:16).
Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin.
James 4:17
Our God sees all things and He knows all the intents of the hearts of man, there is no way we can hide anything from Him.
So He will surely render to each man according to his deeds.

Our Ways In The Lord

For a righteous man may fall seven times
And rise again,
But the wicked shall fall by calamity.
v. 16
When we keep our ways righteous in the eyes of God, even if we fall many times, we shall rise to stand strong again.
But when the wicked falls, there may not be a chance for him to rise up again.
For when the righteous falls, it is a training for him from God, but when the wicked falls, it could be their due punishment or even it could be their imminent end.
The wicked mentioned in verse 6 may be our enemy, and when he falls, we may rejoice and feel that he deserves to fall and not arise again, but the following verses warn us not to.
Do not rejoice when your enemy falls,
And do not let your heart be glad when he stumbles;
Lest the LORD see it, and it displease Him,
And He turn away His wrath from him.
v. 17 – 18
The reason is simple,
Be of the same mind toward one another. Do not set your mind on high things, but associate with the humble. Do not be wise in your own opinion.
Repay no one evil for evil. Have regard for good things in the sight of all men.
If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men.
Romans 12: 16 – 19
Indeed, if we were to rejoice in the fall of our enemy, we are no difference from the wicked. And if we take vengeance, or even silently cursing them, we would have committed the sin of overriding the sovereignty of God.
So let us all continue to learn and apply the wisdom we have learned from the Scriptures, and God will surely bless us abundantly to help us grow into the image of Christ.
Shalom

Wisdom is not like intelligence which glorifies us as an individual and benefits man. Wisdom is like a gift to better serve others and credited to God’s grace!
