Titus 2

Titus 2

Bible Passage:  Titus 2

A sound church is a people who are sensible and competent, healthy and strong…

S ome time ago Paul wrote to Titus, a young pastor of the church at Crete who faced the ‘unenviable (the-I-don’t-feel-like-doing-it) assignment’ of establishing order in the church.

O ld or young, men and women, each member had an essential role to fulfil in the church if they were to be living examples of the doctrine they seemingly believed in.

U nder the circumstances, Paul continuously stressed the necessary, practical working out of salvation in the daily lives of all members, and good works was desirable.

N owadays, though Paul’s letter seems like history, it is God’s will for us to grow as a church thus Paul was inspired to write, urge, and instruct qualities of a sound church.

D octrine is sound when it is according to God’s words, and the list of principles we should strive to follow are:

C hoose to be sober, self controlled, faithful, loving and patient.

…but sometimes I feel really tired, and I let myself go a little bit…a day of not reading the Bible…a moment to just do what I want to do instead of doing things I need to get done No…I must try to stick to at least a chapter a day and be more aware of myself.

H umble yourself, respect others and their needs more than yourself.

…but what about me? What about my life and my needs?…when I count my blessings, I know that I am blessed to be able to even be literate enough, wealthy enough, and healthy enough to write this down…I should think more about others like family, friends and the passerbyers in life..

U nderstand True Jesus’ Church’s basic doctrine, showing your beliefs in sound speech and conduct because a sound faith is characterised by
faith through works.

…but there’s so many verses and points to remember…can’t I just refer them to the preachers, elders and deacons? Hmm…but when people ask me questions when not at church about what I believe in, what will I tell them? It wouldn’t look like I even know what I believe in. Yes, I need to remember the ten basic doctrines and I’ve got to be careful of what I say and do.

R eady yourself to do every good work not just some works, to show yourself as a pattern of good works for a faithful servant would do so.

…but I don’t think I’ll ever be ready…oh dear….you know that feeling when you enter a exam room and people ask you, “Are you ready for this test?”…whether you’re ready or not people judge your performance based on what you give and though I don’t like it and I’m sure you don’t either, just do your best and God will handle the rest.

C hrist is the blessed hope that we look forward to, as we wait for His glorious appearing soon.

…but some days, I really wish He would either come earlier so I don’t have to keep struggling in life, and some days I wish He would come later because I know I’m not ready yet. Thank God for His grace is sufficient for me.

H e gave Himself for us, redeeming us from the sinful deeds we did to make us pure as His own special people. And He wants us to be zealous
for good works, to speak these things, warn and rebuke with the authority He has given us. And He wants us to know that others should not despise us for this.

…but I think I make too many excuses for the sacrifice He made to save a person like me, and so I am learning to say, “Thank you Lord for saving me. And help me to be the kind of person you want me to be.”

May you remember God’s words and live by it, to be a better Christian.

What works in church or things are you doing to try to repay His grace?

Self reflection: what’s my aim in life?

i m a little one with no big aim in life.

Reading Titus 2 tonight, i’ll commit Titus 2:11-14 into memory.
May be i’ll know what’s my aim in this life:
For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men,
    teaching us that,
    denying ungodliness and worldly lusts,
we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present age,
looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ,
    who gave Himself for us,
that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and
purify for Himself His own special people,
    zealous for good works.

Is Lord Jesus’ redeeming power limited such that He MAY redeem us from every lawless deed only?

    Lord Jesus’ power is absolute.

After my feet were washed, do i walk as one who has “no part with Me”? Am i walking as Lord Jesus walks? (Colossians 2:6)

Eph 4:30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.

Like wise, do i grieve the feet of Lord Jesus?

    (Memorise Titus 2:11-14)
