Exodus 7

See? Leaves or a heart…

Say? “It’s ugly” or “it’s nice”…

Do? Throw it away or accept it.

Never mind…let’s read Exodus chapter 7.

Bible Passage:  Exodus 7

“…see…” the Lord says (Exodus 7:1)

The Lord had in mind a plan for His special people.

It was a plan of salvation and a plan of deliverance.

Now Moses was called to fulfil His plan chosen to lead;

He wanted Moses to see that He was the one true God indeed.

But Moses was short sighted of the greatness of God.

To see was impossible without believing, without faith.

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for…”

So the Lord wanted Moses and all of Egypt to see much more.

What does He really want us to see though?

“Take a look around you and tell me what you see”-

See the lost in need of guidance and see that people need the Lord.

See that salvation is only through grace that one can afford.

“…speak…” the Lord commands (Exodus 7:2)

The Lord commanded Moses to speak all that He says.

And Aaron his brother would be his spokesman of these:

“…send the children of Israel out of his [Pharaoh’s] land.”

But Pharaoh would not heed so that Egypt would feel God’s hand.

To Aaron Moses spoke, “Take your rod and cast it before Pharaoh…”

Then the rod became a serpent before the Pharaoh and his servants.

Likewise the men of Pharaoh did so and what happened would not be pardoned,

for Aaron’s rod had swallowed theirs and Pharaoh’s heart would be hardened.

“Let My people go…” the Lord commanded Moses to say.

Yet Pharaoh would not hear and so Moses spoke to Aaron.

And Aaron took his rod, struck the waters of Egypt, all of it.

Water became blood but Pharaoh still did not heed one bit.

What does He really want us to speak though?

Speak words of love and of the truth:

Words of encouragement or words of rebuke.

The former to edify and the latter to refute.

“…do…” the Lord commands (Exodus 7:6)

The Lord commanded Moses to do.

“Show a miracle…” before all the Egyptians.

To let them know the one true God almighty.

That he might persuade Pharaoh to let them all go rightly.

The rod was used twice to do as the Lord commanded.

Both times Pharaoh had refused and still his heart hardened.

God showed compassion as He warned and waited.

Waters becoming blood was only the first plague stated.

What does He really want us to do though?
Love one another and keep His commandments.
As the chosen ones of God dwell as a more loving family.
If we see, speak, and do, our family in Christ will be ‘one’ truly.

One simple question then…
What is a Christian?

“I am a ‘C’

I am a C-H

I am a C-H-R-I-S-T-I-A-N

And I have C-H-R-I-S-T in my

H-E-A-R-T and I will

L-I-V-E  E-T-E-R-N-A-L-L-Y”

[Ref: True Jesus Church Praise for Kids]

Children answered: believe in Jesus.

Dictionary meaning: a person who believes in Jesus Christ; a person who exemplifies in his or her life the teachings of Christ.

…I hope we can remember to see more, speak more and do more unto Jesus and unto others…

I have never been to River Nile but I have seen River Ganges and many rivers in Europe. And I just visited Rheinfall, Schaffhausen in Switzerland. The Rhine River is one of the most important waterways in Germany and at Rheinfall, it offers a spectacular view of the power of the gushing waters of the river in what is the largest waterfall in Europe.

Rivers are a very important part of the lives of the people, even to today.

The rivers of Egypt was turned to blood and yet the Pharoah remained unmoved…

Then I wondered what about the people of Israel.

Today we just witness the first plague that fell on the Egyptians. We are going to read more of them in the next few days. And yet later on, it seems that these great acts of God did not register deeply in the minds of the Israelites.

appleofHiseye wrote about seeing, speaking and doing ….

We have all experienced God in our lives in one way or another. Just like the Israelites.

We have seen for ourselves what God has done for our lives and now need to see beyond ourselves. Now it is time for the speaking and doing.

It is very easy to be like the Israelites to forget what God has done in our lives and focus on immediate issues. Even if the thing that happened is as great as the waters of the mighty river turning into blood. But I guess the challenge for us is to start speaking and doing things to make sure we do not forget.

My better half and I made a decision last week to do something that we have never expected that we could ever do before. We are not sure we can do it well or even are able to do it at all. But we do know this for certain… after all that we have received from the Lord, can we stand idling aside and not doing anything?

Prayers are needed for us. And we also pray that the Lord will send forth more workers for the harvest fields are waiting for all of us.

Ex 7:19 Then the LORD spoke to Moses, “Say to Aaron, ‘Take your rod and stretch out your hand over the waters of Egypt, over their streams, over their rivers, over their ponds, and over all their pools of water, that they shall be blood throughout all the land of Egypt, both in buckets of wood and pitchers of stone.”

Ex 7:21 …So, there was blood through all the land of Egypt.

If there was blood through all the land of Egypt, where did the magicians of Egypt find water and “did so with their enchantments” (Ex 7:22)?

May be the Egyptian magicians found clean water in the household of Israelites.

God’s miracle was to let the Egyptians knew that He was the LORD when He stretched out His hand on Egypt (Ex 7:5). Thus the Israelites might be spared of the “stinky” water (Ex 7:18).

At times, i may receive a pat on the back with “well done and keep it up” from an endearing evergreen brethren.

Then is it bec i have really done well? or is it bec Lord Jesus has kept me away from temptation and delivered me from the evil one?

1 Cor 4:7 For who makes you differ from another? And what do you have that you did not receive? Now if you did indeed receive it, why do you boast as if you had not received it?

Why boast when it is Lord Jesus who keeps the water in the vessels clean?

(The fountain of living water of the Holy Spirit is holy and clean.)
