Luke

Luke Chapter 15

Every sheep matters to God and God loves every sheep. God is happy to see someone repenting and turning back to God. God has mercy on the prodigal son who returns to Him and repents before God.

When a lost son returns back to God, the joy is likened to us finding something we have once lost. The effort put into finding that one lost sheep, that one lost coin, that one lost son is hard work, oftentimes tough, and can bring anxiety and distress, but once they are found, there is so much joy and happiness derived.

Whenever there is a new person being baptised into TJC, it is like a sheep returning back to the correct fold, and God will be happy.

John 10:16 And other sheep I have which are not of this fold; them also I must bring, and they will hear My voice; and there will be one flock and one shepherd.

God is our Good Shepherd, and we are God’s sheep.

John 10:27-28 27 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. 28 And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand.

Though we may not be snatched out of God’s hand, we sometimes stray because we get distracted by the things of the world. Let us remember that we should not be a friend of the world, for friendship with the world is enmity with God.

James 4:4 Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.

Rather, we are but sojourners on the earth and we should not follow the people of the world.
