Matthew 11

Bible Passage: Matthew 12

Today I shall focus on one verse:

“Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and every city or house divided against itself will not stand.”

These pharisees were blind to the things of God.. they see nothing. The more people glorified Christ, the more vindictive they are. They desire very much to smear Christ’s reputation.

It was evident that if Satan aided Jesus in casting out demons, the kingdom of hell will be divided against itself..how then could it stand?!

What stood out for me more, was once again, the encouragement for brethren to unite so that the church could be one. It is very important that we come together, put aside our differences and love each other more.

Love is what unites us.

We need to love each other more. Many churches, countless christian books and Christians everywhere are scrambling to love the world and serve its people selflessly. But we must not forget to love fellow brethren. People will know we are Christians because we manifest Christ’s love for one another. What binds us together is the salvation grace that Jesus has freely granted us.

Let us lay aside our contentions and angry debates. Let us receive one another as Jesus receives us. We should pray that His Spirit fills us and moves us to see past each other’s differences, to copy His example and be encouraged by His gracious kindness.

Matthew 12:50 “For whoever does the will of My Father in heaven is My brother and sister and mother.”

When i hear that Lord Jesus calls me His friend, i m overjoyed.

When i read that Lord Jesus calls us “His brother and sister and mother”, strangely my joy seems a bit distant and afar.

Why do i feel such way?

    Ponder and reflect:
Bec deep in me i know i do not qualify to be a sister of Lord Jesus ie i do not do the will of our heavenly Father, i do things which are not in accordance to His will.

Matthew 12:7 is the second time which Matthew recorded Lord Jesus reiterating the statement that ” I desire mercy and not sacrifice”.

Lord Jesus desires mercy. He holds true to His word.

    How?

He establishes the Sabbath for me to slow down my rushing pace to return to Him. He gives me His Holy Spirit to pray for me and renew my tired soul and body.

He never disqualifies me as His sister.

But do i disqualify myself by my haughty heart?
