Matthew Chapter 3

Preaching In Season & Out of Season

John the Baptist – the forerunner of Jesus, had paved the way for Jesus’ ministry by preaching repentance and baptizing the people. He prepared the way by making the people’s hearts ready to accept Jesus and His message.

Through true repentance and baptism, the people turned from their
sins to God’s righteousness. Indeed, the message of repentance is good news to those who listen and seek the forgiveness of God.

There are still many people who do not know Jesus Christ and need to get ready to meet Him. Just like John the Baptist, we too can tell them about Jesus.

However, for some of us, Personal Evangelism could be something that we will do the last or the least. Most probably, it was because we are making too many consideration to preach.

“Oh… this and that person is difficult to preach”

“It is impossible for them to believe in Jesus even if we preach thousand times to them”

“My friend doesn’t believe in God, if I preach to him, he might be angry with me and unfriend me”.

And there are many other reasons. But it was not the Lord who say it is not possible. We are always the one who justify whether this or that person could be preached to.

At the very minimum, can we send the evangelistic e-invitation to our relatives or friends? In the past, this could be very challenging to do so, but now with technology we can reach them easily.

I have an ex-colleague who doesn’t even believe that God exists.

It was due to the environment she was born in. I invited her to come to our evangelistic services and gave her our church articles. Thank
God, she attended two of evangelistic services.

But subsequently, when I invited her, she always told me she is not available or she has something on. Now she is now in Australia, even further distance from me.

But praise The Lord, we have livestreaming evangelistic services. I can still send the e-invitation to my friend although she is in Australia and invite her to attend Evangelistic service through livestreaming. With technology, our boundary to preach becoming wider.

So let us put aside any consideration whether it is possible or not to preach to people. At most, they might just “blue-ticked” you, ignoring your message or your call, which happened to me many times.

Nevertheless as Jesus’ disciple we must fulfil our duty to preach. As long as it is within our means, we have to do it.

Let us tell others about Jesus in season and out of season.
