Proverbs 8

Bible Passage: Proverbs 8

This chapter is another chapter that tells and even begging us to understand how wisdom is so very important to our lives. (v1)

Wisdom is even more precious than silver and rubies (v10, 11).

Wisdom can deliver us at times when we are standing on the crossroads of our lives,

       On the heights beside the way,

   at the crossroads she takes her stand;

   v2 (ESV)

Indeed we have to listen to wisdom, for she speaks what is right, and she cries out to us, lifting up her voice; so we who have ears must listen to the wisdom of God!

I love those who love me,

And those who seek me diligently will find me.

     v.17

Loving the wisdom of God is loving Jesus Christ, just as Paul reminds us that Christ is the wisdom from God. (ref. 1Cor 1:30)

Verse 17 reminds me of what Elder James admonishes us,

          Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands,

you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

            James 4:8

When we love Christ, we will draw near to Him everyday in meditating on His words.

   Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom;

   I am understanding, I have strength.

    By me kings reign,

   And rulers decree justice.

    By me princes rule, and nobles,

   All the judges of the earth.

            v.14 – 16

And when we draw near to wisdom, we will understand why God requires us to do His will; and we shall receive strength to do the things that are required of us.

For with the wisdom and truths of God, we can reign over our weaknesses and face our challenges in our lives.

May God bless us with a heart to listen, love, and pursue after His wisdom, so we can lead a life that can bring benefits to man and glory to our Almighty God.

I also want to take this opportunity to wish all our friends who are reading this blog and all my brothers and sisters in Christ a happy and blessed Lunar New Year.

Shalom.
