Psalm – Psalm 33-35

If you had attended the Family Hymn Worship yesterday, the first Psalm today will sound familiar to you.

Bible Passage:  Psalm 33-35

Do you remember the verse that Sister Mary shared with us?

Psalm 33:1-3

Rejoice in the LORD, O you righteous!
For praise from the upright is beautiful.
2 Praise the LORD with the harp;
Make melody to Him with an instrument of ten strings.
3 Sing to Him a new song;
Play skillfully with a shout of joy.

Ok, you must admit it, although we were praising God with string instruments, there were times (certainly for the first hymn) where ‘play skillfully’ did not come to mind during Hymn Worship.

But, the intent was right and I do think we all enjoyed it, didn’t we?

One of the points that Sister Mary brought out was that every instrument and player had a part to play together to create beautiful music to praise our Lord.  And the congregation is just as important – as they sang, they also encouraged the musicians too.

Everyone as ONE and yet everyone is unique in their own way.  Just like what the Psalmist said in Psalm 33:15…

He fashions their hearts individually;
He considers all their works.

We all know that we were created in God’s image.  Not only humanity in general – but you and I as individuals.

The same God who made the heavens and the earth and the stars that hang up in the sky.  The same God who made the seas, the animals etc.  He made humans carefully, intentionally and individually.  We are not some random work of chance.  We were called to being by God Himself.

Since we are so unique – what is our response?

Know first that we have a unique purpose. Not only has God made us – He has designed you for His special purpose – your mission in life.  This is what Paul called your “good works” (Eph 2:10).

Then also know because you have a unique purpose, you have a responsibility to God.  Since God created you to live with Him and to live for Him, you belong to God (Rom 14:7-8) and therefore your life should be centred around Him.

The tragedy is that we often turn our backs to Him and live for ourselves.  But we will all have to give an account of ourselves on how we lived our lives in the future.  So what is our response now?

    Don’t enjoy reading PS35 bec there are too many “let unfortunes befall my enemies, let me prosperous”

    David even said in 35:17-18: …Rescue me from their destruction, My precious life from the lions. I will give You thanks in the great assembly; I will praise You among many people.

    This seems a deviation from his humble words in 33:13 & 18-19:
    The Lords looks from heaven; He sees all the sons of men.
    Behold, the eye of the LORD is on those who fear Him,
    On those who hope in His mercy, to deliver their soul from death,
    And to keep them alive in famine.

    Remember always:
    34:18 Many are the afflictions of the rigtheous But the LORD delivers him out of them all
    34:21 Evil shall slay the wicked.

    Yes, let us keep 34:15-16 in our heart always:
    The eyes of the LORD are on the rigtheous, And His ears are open to their cry.
    The face of the LORD is against those who do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.

    Leave the matter of adjudication to our sovereign God.
