Revelation 10 – 12

Revelation 10-12

First of all, I would like to apologize that due to a mix up, we did not have any posting in the last two days.  But I hope you all have been still reading the last few chapters of the year.  If not, let’s read it today….

Bible Passage:  Revelation 10 – 12

Reading Revelation is hard.  And it is even harder to write about it when you are not very sure what all these prophecies or visions mean.

But there is one thing I do know… we have a God who is the Lord God Almighty…. The One who is and who was and who is to come… (Rev 11:17).  And because He is the ONE, He holds the ultimate power… and that gives me confidence that as long as I keep close to Him and stay in His love… no matter what happens in the future – I know that  He will be there for me.

“ We give You thanks, O Lord God Almighty,
The One who is and who was and who is to come,
Because You have taken Your great power and reigned.

~ Revelation 11:17

If this verse sounds familiar, it is because we have read it earlier in Revelation 4:8…

“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was, and is, and is to come.”

Have you thought about this?

There has never been, nor will there ever be… a time in your life when God is not present!

God is there ALL THE TIME in your life!

God revealed Himself as eternally existent when He sent Moses to lead the Israelites out of Egypt. He told Moses, “I am who I am. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: ‘I AM has sent me to you.’” (Exodus 3:14)

In the book of Revelation, God describes Himself in this way, “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.” (Revelation 1:8) – hmmm… here is it again in Revelation!

Jesus confirmed this Himself when He said in the Gospel according to John… “I tell you the truth,” Jesus answered, “before Abraham was born, I am.” (John 8:58)

What are the implications of having a God that was, is and will be?

It means that God knows your past.  So there is nothing that you need to hide from Him.  Come before Him in your weaknesses, your mistakes, your poor decisions… your everything.  Since God already knows everything about you… you need not pretend anymore.  Just confess your sins and truly repent… and God will work His transformation in you.

It also means that God knows what you are going through right now!  Perhaps you are stuck in a dead-end job.  Or you feel your life is monotonous and you cannot do much for Him.   But God can use your current situation, whatever it is, to draw you closer to Him and help you experience the abundant life that He gives.  And He can stir you up with His Holy Spirit to go forth and do wonderful things for Him.

Finally – it means that God can transform your future. Feelings of hopelessness, that your situation will never change, or the fear that the future is bleak or empty or that at nothing will ever go right… God is in control.  Just as He was in the past and present, He will still be there in the future.  And with God in the picture…. anything is possible.  And a heavenly home awaits.

Just something to think about as we close out this year … what does it mean for me that God was, is and will be in our lives?
