Stewardship (1)

A very short read of 4 verses today so let’s just start with them.

Bible Passage: Luke 7:7-10

We have a simple lesson from a short passage and I’m sure you can already guess what this lesson is looking at the picture above.

Obedience – a very vital component in our service to the Lord and an essential lesson for a Christian.

However, like many lessons in our lives, it one that is easy to point out and define but can be pretty difficult to do. By zooming in on these short four verses, it is hoped that we can once again refresh our knowledge of it and more importantly, break it down into straightforward and practical steps that we can take in our paths of faith.

Step 1: But say the word

Obedience starts by knowing why, who and what we obey. If we don’t even know what we are supposed to do, how can we obey?

So before we talk about obeying, maybe we can first ask ourselves if we know who we are obeying, why we are obeying Him and what He says that we have to obey.

Step 2: And I say to one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes; and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.

Obedience is also doing what we are told to do and not comparing with others. Since we are all servants and all under the authority of one Master, we have the responsibility to do what our master tells us to do and not what He told him or her to do. Let us focus on doing our part well instead of wondering why our responsibilities are different.

Step 3: I say to you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel!

Obedience, like stewardship, is also for a lifetime and not for a moment. For this reason, in order to be obedient to the end, we must have faith in the Master that we obey and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

So, do you think you can take these steps like the Centurion today and be praised by the Lord?
