2 Timothy

2 Timothy Chapter 3

Paul warns Timothy of the perilous times that will come in the last days, when wickedness and deception will abound. He listed down the behaviour of our society in the last days – unfortunately, these are also the behaviour of many Christians today.

In many parts of the world today, being a Christian is not difficult, especially in Singapore. People are not typically jailed for reading the Bible or being executed for preaching the gospel.

However, people love pleasure more than God (2 Tim 3:4). Many people have no regard for God nor His commandments. They live according to what their hearts and flesh desire rather than God’s will.

We are living in the last days. As children of God, we must not be conformed to the pattern of this world and we should make the most of the time that God has given us (Ephesians 5:16; Colossians 4:5).

It is important to always examine the choices that we make and ask whether we are doing things to please God or to please ourselves. To love God requires effort and sacrifice and we must lay aside our pride and our accomplishments.

If we truly love God, we will deny ourselves in order to carry out God’s will. Let us check our lives against “Paul’s list” and not to give in to society’s pressures.

We must stand up against evil by living how God would want His people live.
