Hebrews 3

Hebrews 3

Have you ever doubted your faith before?
Or complained when you’re in trouble?
Have you ever rebelled against someone’s wishes?
Or maybe disobeyed someone’s command?
Because the Israelites did and so have I,
But from these MISTAKES we can learn and understand...

The Israelites’ journey to Canaan was very long indeed.
They spent forty long years in the land of the wilderness,
When the journey could have been made in about a year or two.
It’s a wonder why they could not enter into Canaan when they were so near,
Instead they seemed to walk around and around in doubt and fear,
But we know it was because of their UNBELIEF as recorded here.

Sometimes we complain from time to time,
Because of trials, troubles, toil or maybe we’re just too tired.
Likewise the Israelites complained about this and that,
Because they had lost their faith in God and all the while,
God had given them blessings and miracles yet they still murmured.
Therefore we can learn to be THANKFUL to God for everything whether a blessing or trial.

It’s ironic that because of their faith,
They left Egypt and because of their faith,
They could not enter Canaan.
Our faith can be compared to the Israelites,
Whether we choose to wander in life or follow Jesus completely.
Therefore we can learn to BELIEVE and TRUST Him through calm moments and life’s fights.

Jesus is a fine example as mentioned from the beginning of Hebrews.
He is God Himself and far more superior than angels.
Here we read that He is greater than Moses;
He was a faithful son and the perfect servant.
He knew what His purpose was and the direction He was headed,
Unlike the Israelites who COMPLAIN, MURMUR, WANDER and RANT.

In the next few minutes,
Let’s take some time to think…
Time flies and TIME is PRECIOUS.
We never know when God will stop us on our journey;
We could be in Egypt, or in the wilderness or on our way to Canaan;
We could still be studying, working or just growing up.

Sometimes we can’t help it but COMPLAIN or MURMUR,
And so we need brethren to watch out for us and encourage us.
Sometimes we can become STUBBORN and REBEL,
But we ought to beware and be careful that we do not throw God away.
God will get A-N-G-R-Y when we test Him or if we continue to sin and go astray.
With our lips let’s speak more PRAISE, THANKSGIVING and ENCOURAGEMENT every day.

What’s something we can say thank you for or maybe we can encourage someone with today?

    Hebrews 3:3 For this One has been counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as He who built the house has more honour than the house.

    Do we give more honour to He who builds the house or to the house?

    In a fast pace society He who builds the house is frequently forgotten. When one dashes from place to place, one tends to see the house and forget the Builder.

    Sometimes the house is so grand that all praises are on the house and the Builder is again forgotten.

    Hebrews 3:6 but Christ as a Son over His own house, whose house we are if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm to the end.

    Hebrews 3:14 For we have become partakers of Christ if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end.

    Imagine the window panels, bricks and frame of a house falling off day by day. How grand can such a house look?

    How glorious and honourable can His body look when member of His body falls away/degenerates day by day? (Hebrews 3:1)

    Be holy for the One who calls us is holy.

    (Hebrews 3:6,14 firm and steadfast: the adjective of work+faith Matthew 11:12 James 2:22)
