Isaiah Chapter 54

Recently I had a health scare in the hospital. What should have been a simple procedure became complicated. And as the doctors and nurses rushed around me, this song, “主恩典够我用” kept on playing through my mind and kept me calm and at peace. We had played this during our Zamar fellowship and it will be one of the songs we will be singing together with the Evergreen members in this year’s Senior Members’ Day.

This song and experience came to mind again when I read Isaiah 54:10:

For the mountains shall depart
And the hills be removed,
But My kindness shall not depart from you,
Nor shall My covenant of peace be removed,”
Says the Lord, who has mercy on you.

Now, no matter how much we try, we will find that on many occasions that we will let others down. It may be that we promised we will be home for dinner but did not make it, we say the wrong things, we make rash judgements etc.

So even when we want to love and care for our loved ones well, we still make mistakes and fail.

But God’s love, thankfully, is not like that.

God’s kindness. God’s covenant of Peace.

It never fails. Even if the mountains and hills are removed. It is still there.

Why? Because of God who has mercy on us.

What a comforting thought to know that this promise is true.

This is the one constant in this ever changing world – this kind, peaceful, merciful nature of our God. Even what seems to be immovable will be removed on day but God is still completely faithful and will keep His promise to me.

May God’s nature be our source and refuge.

Take your time to read today’s chapter as it contains many promises of God for His blessings on us.
