Judges 5

Bible Passage:  Judges 5

“Thus let all Your enemies perish, O LORD!
But let those who love Him be like the sun
When it comes out in full strength.” (Judges 5:31, NKJV)

LORD, may all your enemies perish as Sisera did.
But may those who love Him
be like the rising of the sun in its strength. (Judges 5:31, HCSB)

The rising sun delights in shooting its rays across the entire earth.
It emerges out of the horizon slowly at first,
peeking to see if it was alright to make an entrance.
Then soon after, it unabashedly casts its dazzling beams in all directions.
Mercilessly, its warm presence is felt.
We cannot but be aware of its presence.

God can bestow strength like that of a rising sun to those who love Him.
As your days, so shall your strength be. (Deuteronomy 33:25)
Just like the sun come forth everyday with renewed strength –
strength like that of yesterday, and strength that is to come tomorrow,
we receive renewed strength each day we come to God in prayer.

As the sun shamelessly throws its beams around,
have we also shine forth like light of the world for Jesus?
A lamp is not lit and put under a basket (Matthew 5:14)
Are you on a lampstand, giving light to all?
Are our warm presence felt by those around us?
Are we proud, like the sun, to be partakers of this work of sending forth the light to the darkness of the world?

There will be times when the occasional cloud of doubt or sorrow drift by .
And the sun is seen no more.
Yet, do not forget that, though the rays are hidden, the light of the sun still shines through.
It is not darkness yet.
The cloud of sorrow or doubt can only be but a temporary façade.
To lie to you that all is lost,
And the sun in its strength is no more.
But as long as we can clear the cloud of doubt, and allow time for the cloud of sorrow to pass,
We will soon see the sun in its strength shining forth again.
For the joy of the LORD is your strength. (Nehemiah 8:10)

Let us who love God learn to summon our strength and shine them forth like a fervid sun.
Let us learn to give up our all for the Lord, like the sun (in full strength) casting out all its energy without reserve.

…The LORD came down for me against the mighty (Judges 5:13).

They fought from heavens; the stars from their courses fought against Sisera (Judges 5:20)

“Curse Meroz,” said the angel of the LORD, “Curse its inhabitants bitterly, because they did not come to the help of the LORD against the mighty.” (Judges 5:23)

Does God need help when He fights against the mighty?

Matthew 25:26-28 God wants to receive back His own with interest.

Matthew 25:35-36 God wants His who is hungry fed, thirsty quenched, alone taken in, naked clothed, sick visited, in prison looked after.

The cursed are sent into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels (Matthew 25:41)

Those who folded their arms were cursed bitterly. Cursed bec they have not helped.
