Korah and Aaron

Bible Passage: Numbers 16-17

The key takeover for me from today’s reading was the importance of submitting to the church, ie the church leaders as this is also a form of faith towards God.

In our own capacity, we are members of God’s house and do not have complete understanding of totality of church matters. Hence in this, we entrust to God.

We need to pray for the church and church leaders, do our best to serve and humbly worship in Spirit and Truth.

We need to honour God’s workers, all His workers and entrust that God is overall Head of the Church. Even if there are disagreements within the church, we have to submit to show our faith towards God.

If the church leaders are in the wrong, God will intervene. When Saul was in pursuit of David, David had an opportunity to kill Saul, but he did not lay a finger on him. David left it to God’s judgement. In his capacity, with God in mind, he honoured Saul through faith in God.

Dissensions in God’s congregation angers God, and when God intervenes, He condemns those who are rebellious. These people were self righteous, they feel that everything they do is right, but in fact, they were so wrong.

We cannot rely on our own thinking because we are only humans. We need to humbly seek and esteem God’s will and ways. We should not undertake our own will.

We should handle matters with fear and reverence towards God, honour order and sanctity in God’s house, and love one another.
