Bible Passage:  Luke 21

Healthy Eyes to See

the true value.

“…He looked up and saw the rich…, …and He saw a certain poor….” (v1,2)

Here God teaches us not to regard things at face value; that the widow’s meagre offering of 2 copper mites was in fact her livelihood. Also, God was fair in His observance and assessment.

He didn’t just have the rich in His eyes, but He was observing everyone. Indeed this incident has taught us that there is much to learn from others around us, even those whom the world sees as less well-off or those whom we would not usually cast a second glance at.

Healthy Mouth and Mind to Speak

our testimonies.

As an RE student before, whenever I hear teachings of the end times, and all the destruction that was to come, I would be fearful. But the following verses never fail to provide some comfort.

13 But it will turn out for you as an occasion for testimony. 14 Therefore settle it in your hearts not to meditate beforehand on what you will answer; 15 for I will give you a mouth and wisdom which all your adversaries will not be able to contradict or resist.

Healthy Ears to Listen

to warnings.

Jesus spoke to warn his disciples and those who chose to listen on what was to come in the end times. Famous writer and convert C.S. Lewis once said, “The future is something which everyone reaches at the rate of sixty minutes an hour, whatever he does, whoever he is.” Since we are now much nearer to the end times, we must all the more live each day to make it count, and heighten our alertness to discern between things which edify God and those not worth spending time on.

We can try this little activity. At the end of each day, take stock of how much we have done. Then place a check beside those items which help our personal development and also those which bring us nearer our Christian goal of a heavenly home. How many checks do we have? How many more to strive towards?

The picture of the healthy person caught my eye 🙂
It’s interesting when you put it in the perspective of having “healthy eyes to see”, “healthy mouth and mind to speak”, and “healthy ears to listen”; to see the true value in people, to speak out our testimonies, and to listen to warnings. Yes, we need to be “healthy” and alert, an important reminder. Also thank you JoyousConcerto for sharing the activity…”take stock of how much we have done”.
