Matthew Chapter 7

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.”

~ Matthew 7:7-8 ~

This is a wonderful promise that God made for us His Children and He teaches us to be persistent in our prayer.

Sometimes we are unsure of what we want in life or we do not know how to attain the goals that we have set for ourselves.

We always want to succeed at things we would like to achieve, but we were trying so hard to do it as per our own will and wisdom. We might have put the matter in our prayer but nothing has changed.

It seems God didn’t hear our prayer and we get upset and wonder, “Didn’t God has promised that if I ask, and it will be given?”

God will only only gives us what we need and what good for us as per His will. Often, we didn’t realize that we might have been praying for “stones” or “snakes”. But God knows, “stones” or “snakes” are not good for us, so He will not give us what we ask for, even if we persist in our prayers.

On the other hand, many times, we are getting impatient and give up after a few half-hearted prayer efforts and conclude that God didn’t hear our prayer.

The Lord wants us to be persistent in our prayer and continue to trust Him even nothing has changed, because God will make everything beautiful and fulfill it in its time as per His Will (Ecclesiastes 3:11).

If evil man know how to give good gifts to their children, how much more will our Heavenly Father, who loving, understands and cares for us. He will definitely give us what we need especially the most important gift – The Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!” (Matthew 7:10-11; Luke 11:13)

Knowing God takes faith, focus and follow-through and Jesus assures us that we will receive it, find it and enter it. As we learn to know God better as a loving Father, let us learn to ask for what is good for us and according to His will.
