Psalm 43

Psalm 43

Bible Passage:  Psalm 43

I have in recent months faced with ‘a series of unfortunate events’. In most of these events, I still fail to establish the manner in which it was transpired. Just when I was searching for some answer and closure, the next worse event knocked on my doorstep. Things do seem a little bleak and as BibleReader put it, we tend not to see the brighter side of things at times of crisis.

We read in this and the last chapters that the psalmist faced with great distress and difficulties, to the point that ‘the tears have been his food day and night’ and ‘his soul was cast down deeply’.

Instead of dwelling in the sadness, the psalmist turned his tears into greater strength, faith and hope in God. As BibleReader put it, the psalmist put the matter in psalm, prayers, and more importantly, in reflecting the wonderful grace that God has bestowed upon us in life.

In this chapter, the psalmist prayed that God would vindicate his cause. He submitted to the sovereignty of God as being the righteous Judge. In his quest for justice, the psalmist rested the unjust and ungodly events to God’s hands. The psalmist laid bare his conscience before God, having himself examined the content and intent of his heart.

In one of the unfortunate events that I encountered, I felt I was being short-changed and at one point, I was overwhelmed with great sense of helplessness and harboured one-hundred-and-one-reasons why it happened. It took some effort to lay aside the noise in my head to focus on God’s deliverance.

The psalmist prayed for the light and truth so to be led to the safe haven. In times of darkness and when things seemed bleak, we especially need the light of God’s countenance to bring us back to the source of all joy and hope. We also need the truth to be enlightened so not to go astray from the righteous way.

I pray all of us have the strength and faith to trust that God can turn our moments of darkness into one filled with joy and hope.

Have a good week ahead.

A short but impactful psalm, but the psalmist really poured his heart out. I think I need to start praying with my heart again…

We should all learn to love the Bible which is an amazing compilation.

Nehemiah 8:10 is something that is easily said but very difficult to be done when things go haywire and tragedies strike one after another. Even prophet Elijah wanted to commit suicide when persecuted.

We don’t feel the pain that someone else is experiencing, yet the Bible tells us to SHARE in the sorrows of our brethrens, visit those who are sick, orphaned etc. Until we see this life as just a passing, we will continue to linger on and strive in it, weeping our hearts out for losses suffered in it with God waiting at the door beckoning us to come TO Him.

When prophet Elijah was suicidal, God in a nutshell told him “Come-In and Rest”.
