Raising of Lazarus

Raising of Lazarus

Bible Passage:  John 11:1-44

Jesus wept
In public, in front of his critics.
Even knowing there was hope –
Resurrection was just moments away

Feeling the pain of his friends
The loss, the separation –
His terrible grief spilled over
As a river bursts its banks
Jesus wept

And so permission is given
For us also to weep
When overwhelmed
Even knowing that there is hope
That resurrection lies ahead
And that comfort was promised for those who mourn

Dear Reader,

I’m sorry for the late post. This week has been hectic for me and maybe it has been for you too.

I don’t know what you’re going through but I can tell you that after reading this passage, I can confidently say I know someone who knows exactly what you’re going through. Sometimes we forget that someone and that’s just part of being human.

As I have been teaching children in the last few weeks of my practicum (yes, I’m a  becoming teacher) some fell down and cried, others made mistakes and cried, some missed their parents and started crying, and some teared because they felt sick. Children cry for many different reasons. Adults cry too. I can tell you that I have cried recently too. And sometimes there is someone to rush to our rescue, but not always.

You can see children learn to pick themselves up after they fall down. Children learn to cope with the circumstance when their parents are not always by their side. Children learn to try and try again even if they don’t get it right the first time. And children learn to wait and endure until the end of the day though they may be feeling sick.

There’s something to learn in being patient in difficulties and pain. In the story today Jesus taught the people a lesson about having confidence in the Lord, and though He did not answer immediately, He did come through in the end—and there was a better purpose for His timing. Faith is a journey—a lifelong learning lesson where I am still learning too though I am a becoming teacher.

May we keep on learning from the moments we cry and every other moment to have confidence in the Lord.

Sincerely,

appleofHiseye

This was s moving post, I really liked the part on expressing and accepting grief. For it is when we are weak that we are strong. Maybthe Lord guide us and as I read the bible each day, i find new meaning in the words. Hallelujah!

Jn 6:33 & 38 mention Jesus Groan in the spirit, it is more like in rom 8:26 where the Holy spirit also Groan for the weakness of believer. therefore the weeping of Jesus is rather more for those whom are alive and showing weakness in faith.
therefore if the crying is due to our weakness in faith, than we need to seek the help of God in strengthening our faith.
May our faith grow in the Lord and be pleasing in the eye of God. Amen.
