Revelation 14

Bible Passage: Revelation 14

Then I looked, and behold, on Mount Zion stood the Lamb, and with him 144,000 who had his name and his Father’s name written on their foreheads.

Revelation 14:1 (ESV)

This was the vision Apostle John saw, and I feel that this vision is a glorious one and close to our hearts.

According to Elder Elisha Huang’s book, “启示录的研究”,he said that since this was a vision seen by Apostle John in the spiritual realm, therefore this number, 144,000 should not be taken literally, but it carries the meaning that there is a complete number of saints.

So who are those who made up of this number?

These are the ones who were not defiled with women, for they are virgins. These are the ones who follow the Lamb wherever He goes. These were redeemed from among men, being firstfruits to God and to the Lamb.

And in their mouth was found no deceit, for they are without fault before the throne of God.

Revelation 14: 4 – 5

These are the saints, followers of Christ, blameless in the eyes of God.

Do we see ourselves among these 144,000?

In the 2 verses above quoted, I see 3 very prominent virtues that these 144,000 posses; and they are:

  1. Not defiled with women.
  2. Follow the Lamb wherever He goes, and
  3. Their mouth was found no deceit.

We who are the redeemed of the Lord must posses these virtues, so that we are worthy to bear the Name of the Father on our foreheads.

So do we have these virtues?

In order not be defiled with women, I understand this as we have to place Christ in the center of our lives, our every action and words are pure and righteous in the eyes of God.

Our love must only be towards our Lord Jesus, and no other things can come between us.

For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 8:38 – 39

Following the Lamb wherever He goes is again to always stay focus and standing firm in the commandments of the Lord.

Wherever He wants to lead us, we must be willing to follow Him, and to accomplish His works that He has entrusted to us.

Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place.

2 Corinthians 2:14

The words that come out from our mouths can not be taken back, so it is wise to bridle our tongues, for unpleasant or hurtful words not only hurt the listeners, they can also blaspheme the Holy Name of God.

We must always season our speech with salt, so that our listeners can be edified and give glory to our Father in Heaven.

Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so.

James 3:10

Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.

Colossians 4:6

Let us all be mindful of our conducts in the Lord. For we know we are living in the times spoken of in the Book of Revelation.

Now is the time that we must put in our utmost to be true saints in Christ.

May our Lord guide and help us.

Shalom
