2 Kings Chapter 22

2 Kgs 22:19

because your heart was tender, and you humbled yourself before the LORD when you heard what I spoke against this place and against its inhabitants, that they would become a desolation and a curse, and you tore your clothes and wept before Me, I also have heard you,” says the LORD.

A teenager would be considered by many as young, inexperienced, and rash in decision makings. They would not be given great responsibilities as they may mess up matters.

Yet this young teenager Josiah was the king of Judah at this young age.

Though a youth, he had a very good and precious quality, which was a tender heart towards the Lord. Upon hearing the law of the Lord, he humbled himself before Him and began to clean up the nations from idolatries.

So the Lord was pleased with him and rewarded him with an early death so that he would not face all the calamities that He would bring upon the decadent nation.

Is our heart constantly tender before the Lord?

Do we often feel pricked by the words of God?

Do we often feel the moving of the Holy Spirit in us, directing us to do according to the will of God?

May the Lord constantly move us and guide us, that we will always be ready to humble ourselves before Him and allow us to be easily corrected by His words!
