Isaiah Chapter 14

From Isaiah 14:12-‬14, we learn the origin and the nature of sin. These verses describe the fall of Satan. Lucifer was the most beautiful of the angels of God, became so proud with his own beauty that he rebelled against the Mighty God and became the adversary – Satan/Devil. Anyone who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning (1 John 3:8).

Apostle Paul told us that we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places (Eph 6:12). When we believe in Christ, these beings become our enemies, and they will walk about like a roaring lion seeking whom they may devour and use any mean to turn us away from God and back to sin. Therefore, we must be sober, be vigilant, strife and engage in the struggle until Lord Jesus returns.

But to defeat Satan and his angels (other fallen angels), we need God’s power, and God has provided us the Helper – the Holy Spirit and the whole Armor of God surrounding us, Belt of Truth, Breastplate of Righteousness, Gospel of Peace, Shield of Faith, Helmet of Salvation, Sword of the Spirit, and The Power of Prayer (Eph 6:14-18). These are our spiritual defence against attacks by Satan.

When we face trials and temptations, let us not feel discouraged but remember Jesus’ words to Peter, “On this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it (Mat 16:18).

To Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen (Ephesians 3:20-21).
