Luke Chapter 16

One day our work will come to an end. Our wealth of this world may not even last in this life. It can be used for something good or evil. Since our wealth come from God, therefore we need to use is wisely and for a good use.

In Luke 16:9 Lord Jesus says “And I say to you, make friends for yourselves by unrighteous mammon, that when you fail, they may receive you into an everlasting home.”

The Lord encourages us to use our money for something that could bring us eternal benefit, for example we could use it to help those in need or to help others find Jesus.  So, when we die, our earthly investment will bring us into an everlasting home.

Our integrity is often put on the line in money matters. The Lord teaches us to be faithful and honest even in little things we could easily ignore. If we are not trustworthy with our money (no matter how much or little we have), we will be unfit to handle the great true riches of God’s Kingdom. We need to maintain our integrity in all matters regardless of whether big or small (16:10-11).

Do we think and worry too much about money frequently? Do we spend a great deal of our time caring for our possessions?

Lord Jesus called money / wealth unrighteous mammon because it promises power and control, but often it cannot deliver. It excites hope and happiness but deceives both. Money / wealth can easily take God’s place in our life, and it can become our deceptive master. Great fortunes can be made or lost overnight. No amount of money can provide health, happiness, or eternal life.

Let God only be our master.
