Revelation

Revelation 5

The Book of Revelations is a book that I would want to read again whenever I feel the danger of drifting away from God.

Because deep down in me, I feel that the scenes and words recorded by Apostle John are realities that I will face in the near future.

Even though nearly all the scenes and words seen and heard by Apostle John seem very abstract, they can really give me “wake up calls” whenever I read it.

The recordings in this book are rather abstract and hard to understand, but there is one very clear character seen in these recordings, and that is none other than our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God.

Bible Passage: Revelations 5

Then I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, “Who is worthy to open the scroll    and to loose its seals?”

And no one in heaven or on the earth or under the earth was able to open the scroll, or to look at it.

So I wept much, because no one was found worthy to open and read the scroll, or to look at it.

     Rev. 5: 2 – 4

Apostle John knew the contents in the scroll must be of great importance to men, and when there was no one found worthy to break the seals to open it, and to read it, he wept.

But one of the elders said to me, “Do not weep. Behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah,

the Root of David, has prevailed to open the scroll and to loose its seven seals.”

And I looked, and behold, in the midst of the throne and of the four living creatures, and

in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as though it had been slain, having seven horns

and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent out into all the earth.

Then He came and took the scroll out of the right hand of Him who sat on the throne.

Rev. 5: 5 – 7

It was at the point of John’s disappointment that the Lamb of God “came”, and he saw the greatness and worthiness of the Lamb of God.

Great in that He was slain, and have redeemed us to God by His blood; and worthy to receive power and riches and wisdom, and strength and honor and glory and blessing!”

This reminds me of the many testimonies I’ve heard, and even of my own experience of how our Lord Jesus came to give me hope at the point of despair, sadness and hopelessness.

Right from the very first book, Genesis, to the last book, Revelations, we can see the footprints of this Lamb of God.

Similarly, from the very first time we knew Christ, right to the very day that we breath our last, our Lord Jesus has not, and will not take His eyes away from us. He is our comfort and strength in times of our needs.

If we were to take time to ponder about our lives in Christ, we are sure to see His footprints in our daily lives.

We have such a great and loving God, let us not forget to praise Him like how the heavenly hosts praising Him unceasingly!

Let our prayers and praises be part of the incense that are found in the golden bowls in the hands of the 24 elders.

All glory to our Lord God Almighty, Who was and is and is to come!

Shalom.
