He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches

These are not punishment words written on the black board by Bart Simpson in the Simpson cartoon. These are words spoken by our Lord and He made it very clear to us, repeating it for every church.
Our life of faith is a journey whereby we will meet with obstacles and tribulations. In this chapter, the emphasis is that we need to listen to the words of Jesus and to overcome all these obstacles. If we are able to overcome, we will be received to Paradise.
Who will be able to overcome all these? He who overcomes are those who are sober, able to continue in faith and love, able to resist temptations, able to resist tribulations, able to see through false prophets and able to listen to the words of the Bible.
In this end times, it is a matter of time before we have to endure such tribulations. Have we started to prepare ourselves mentally, physically, spiritually and emotionally for these challenges ahead? Just last Saturday, during the Spiritual Meeting, I shared with my REU students about the dangers ahead especially in the Middle East. Not only recently was there a lot of uprising in the Middle East which could lead to extremism, Israel is now contemplating of attacking a future nuclear armed Iran. All these can have deep repercussions to our lives, which are already facing high inflation and job challenges.
We do not know what lies ahead. However, we should heed what the Lord tells us and that is to listen and be doers of the word of God – which is true faith.
“For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.” (1 John 5:4)
