Isaiah Chapter 25 – I Will Praise Your Name

In the Bible, there is no shortage of praise for God, His will and all His works. This particular chapter, however, reminds me very much of Psalm 27.

Both Isaiah 25 and Psalm 27 convey the undisputable and immutable fact that we have a God who is faithful, merciful, just and true – His chosen people, He will never forsake. Their deliverance and redemption from enemies, death and destruction is unparalleled, both physically and spiritually earthshattering.

Although written from different perspectives, both chapters are personal expressions of the respective authors’ recounts and experiences in waiting on God, and their overwhelming gratitude to and for God, having come out the other side/reached the light at the end of very dark tunnels.

A significant number of us have been Christians for years. Has it become commonplace for us to live each day, constantly at the receiving end, never stopping to think twice about God’s daily providence?

Do we see in full view God’s sovereignty and graciousness towards each of us? How regularly are our heads and voices lifted up, hands stretched out towards the heavens, hearts and minds sincerely offering all glory and honour to God? How compelled are we to claim our relationship with God as personal, then openly declare and pass on our faith?

May God grant us enduring strength and courage from above, never faltering to speak of Him and His wonders.
