“If you say, “Surely we did not know this,”, does not He who weighs the hearts consider it? He who keeps your soul, does He not know it? And will He not render to each man according to his deeds?” (Proverbs 24: 12)

Our God is all-knowing. There is no one and nothing as righteous or as merciful as Him. No one and nothing is hidden from Him. The plans and intents of our hearts – He knows completely; He chastises and rewards accordingly.

Where we know for sure we have erred and strayed, but wholeheartedly repent, God is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Do we not have a God who relents from vengeance, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of His truth?

“Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.” (1 Timothy 2: 1-4)

Conversely, when we do not take God’s heart to heart, God’s swift unyielding judgement will come sooner than later. Thus, let us constantly look inward, let God thoroughly search the deep corners of our hearts, and be led by Him only in the way everlasting.

Indeed, “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked; who can know it? I, the LORD, search the heart, I test the mind, even to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his doings.” (Jeremiah 17: 9-10)
